Well I finally found out the solution to a minor irritant that I have been struggling with while using NetBeans. With one of my recent projects I set up, I have been getting the following error when trying to Download files from the server: Some parent of file dir/to/file is a symbolic link I have now worked out the cause and a fix

Sharing a mouse and keyboard across multiple computers

After years of working simultaneously working on multiple computers at once, I felt I had to investigate to see if there was a better solution that KVM's, remote desktops and the like. The result has somewhat left me amazed and wondering why I did not investigate this sooner.

Paypal Account Hacked

I woke up this morning to find 2 Paypal receipts sitting in my Inbox. Receipts for purchases I had not made! After questioning the missus to see if she knew anything about them, I realised that my Paypal account had been hacked. So sleeves rolled up, I set about getting my money back, all £3.63 of it!

Bad drivers in snow

It's very rare that I have a public rant, but I am growing weary of the moaning about how bad the roads become in snow in this country (UK). Frankly, I am sick of hearing about the following: 1) How bad the snow is 2) That the roads are not gritted enough 3) How car manufacturers are to blame with their low profile tyres and how expensive snow tyres are

Rebooting into Windows from Linux

After wiping my scripts directory, I set about rewriting them. One of the most useful was the one that allowed me to reboot into my Windows partition without having to wait around and select it from the grub menu. There are a few solutions out there, but none seemed to work for some reason?
